Career Insights: "If I knew then, what I know now"
I would have started networking and involving myself in industry groups earlier. My legal career started back when you went to work for a law firm, then stayed there. I took a chance and moved in-house early, but spent several years focused on getting work done rather than building my own brand.
When the company was sold, I was without a network. I was lucky and landed a General Counsel position before my old job ended, but I vowed to get more involved and develop broader skills and connections. I now make a point of getting out there and helping newer attorneys start in the right direction.
